Meditation is the practice of calming the mind in order to heighten stillness, awareness and relaxation to the person.

Most people’s minds are full of to-do lists and busy focusing on the next thing to do. Meditation helps to still the busy mind and focus on the now. 

Once you concentrate on the moment, you can enjoy each minute of everyday and not be rushing towards the next in such haste.

The benefits of meditation are mostly to do with the decrease in stress which occurs, but here are some benefits which have been documented:

  • Reduces anxiety attacks

  • Builds self-confidence

  • Regulates high blood pressure

  • Increases serotonin

  • Increases concentration

  • Aids relaxation and well-being

I run meditation weekly drop-in classes and Saturday meditation workshops in Saltdean, Brighton.

With meditation the mind is stilled and thought processes become clearer. Ailments can also be alleviated as, according to Ayurveda, disease starts in the mind and by becoming aware of the mind and its ability, you can heal your body.

Times of the meditation sessions:

Drop-in classes:

Tuesdays 2.00-2.45pm

Wednesdays 9.15-10.00am

The first class costs £5 and then 10 sessions for £65 or single sessions at £8 each.

 

Saturday Meditation Workshops:

Saturday 13th March 2010: 11am-2pm: Heal Your Body

Saturday 27th March 2010: 11am-2pm: Learn to Relax

Saturday 17th April 2010: 11am-2pm: Visualisation

Class information:

Classes will include breathing techniques (pranayama), various meditation techniques, relaxation and visualisation.

All classes are very friendly and welcoming with a maximum of 6 students.

Please wear comfortable, warm clothing as the body cools in meditation.
